Shop Carpenter


Position Description

  • Must pass a drug test and a background check.
  • Requires starting work at 5:00 AM four to five days a week.
  • Primary duty is to construct custom cabinets from verbal instruction or primarily from shop drawings independently with minimal instruction or supervision. Radius work as well as straight work is normal. Typical projects would include reception desks, nurses’s stations, teller lines, conference tables, and audiovisual cabinets.
  • Must be familiar with the use and care of power and hand tools that are required in a cabinet shop.
  • May be required to work with other carpenters or helpers on projects and be able to oversee the quality and keep the others productive while on that project.
  • Position requires ability to work with lumber, veneer, and sheet goods as well as plastic laminate.
  • May assist in keeping shop area clean.
  • Requires some heavy lifting.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in a cabinet shop, working from shop drawings/blueprints is required.
